Starting out with makeup can be pretty daunting and challenging, especially with there being so many different products on the market. However, there are some basic products that you just must have in your roster. Here are the five makeup bag essentials you need right now to make your life easier.
Powder – No7 Translucent Perfect Light Pressed Powder (£11.50)
Having a powder is absolutely necessary as it combats shine, especially in these summer months. I like this particular one because it is super lightweight, and it doesn’t make you look obviously powdery.
Eyeliner – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (£16)
Nothing creates a defined eye like eyeliner, and I love this one by Kat Von D. It is handily shaped like a felt tip pen, but doesn’t dry out like cheaper alternatives. It’s sure to look fabulous whether you’re a veteran eyeliner applicator, or just a beginner.
Concealer – MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (£18)
If you’re in a rush and don’t have time for foundation, then concealer is your best friend. I like this MAC concealer because it is super full-coverage, so there’s no need to spend ages applying it. Use a brush with densely packed bristles to buff into the skin (but use your fingers for your delicate under-eye area).
Brows – Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade (£15)
Cara Delevigne started the grown-out brow trend and it’s never really gone away, which is great news for us bushy-browed gals. To keep mine in check and looking defined I use this product as it is long-lasting and waterproof, just use a light hand to apply it.
Lips – L’Occitane Melting Honey Lip Balm (N/A)
Lipstick is awesome, but what’s the point of wearing it if your lips look dry and chapped? A good quality lip balm should be in every girl’s makeup bag to combat this. The Melting Honey lip balm is no longer available, but L’Occitane have many others.
I hope these makeup bag essentials help some of you find your feet with makeup. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
